The ARA is taking this opportunity to adopt a Privacy Statement which acknowledges and respects the privacy of individuals in the context of the ARA's activities.

The ARA collects personal information like contact details, in respect of:

  • certain officers, employees and members of its member organisations;
  • various decision makers and opinion leaders, including parliamentarians, their advisers and journalists; and
  • individual and corporate correspondents with the ARA.

The information collected from member organisations is for the purpose of processing their membership application, keeping them informed of upcoming events, assisting the ARA in improving its service to its members and advocacy work undertaken by ARA. Unless a member specifically requests otherwise, the personal information in respect of members will be included in our annual publication, the Yearbook and Industry Directory and on our website.

The personal information in respect of decision-makers and opinion leaders is generally available to the public and the ARA assumes that the decision-makers and opinion leaders concerned have impliedly consented to this information being recorded and stored by the ARA.

The ARA also receives inquiries and requests for information from many individuals and organisations and these inquiries and requests necessarily result in the storage of personal information associated with those requests. The personal information provided by the inquiries is held for the purpose of that correspondence.

It is possible that some individuals whose personal information is held by the ARA will want to deal with it on an anonymous basis. Where it is practicable to do so, the ARA will respect such requirements.

The ARA will provide appropriate details of, amend or remove any personal information detailed above on request from individual or organisations.
